We are pleased to receive you as a new patient in our office. We hope this website will enable you to become familiar with the services and procedures of our office, and thus establish a good relationship between the patient, parents, and orthodontist.

Our office procedure is as follows:

1. Examination

The initial appointment in our office is for a preliminary clinical examination. At this time, we will determine if there is a need for orthodontic service and give you a general idea of the orthodontic problem, its treatment, and expense involved. We offer this preliminary exam to you free of charge.

2. Records

If treatment is indicated, a subsequent appointment will be necessary to obtain diagnostic records. These records will enable us to assess the particular orthodontic problems involved in your case and determine the treatment plan necessary for corrections. We will take impressions of your upper and lower teeth which will be used to make models (study casts). We will also take full face and mouth photographs and the appropriate dental and head x-rays. The fee for this service varies according to the specific records needed in your case.

3. Consultation

If the patient is a child, the responsible party (usually at least one parent) must be present for the consultation appointment. We encourage the patient to be present since so much of an orthodontic treatment plan relies upon his or her understanding of procedures and cooperation. Results are most favorable and rapid when both patient and doctor work together. Therefore, we use the consultation as an opportunity to provide the patient with the educational tools and understanding they need to participate with the doctor in their own treatment. The specific orthodontic problems and the treatment options designed for your case will be discussed in detail. At this time, we will quote a fee for the entire treatment and estimate the treatment time involved.

Appointment Policies

You will receive orthodontic treatment by appointment only, with the exception of emergency situations. Many appointments will be scheduled during school hours; thus, students should make arrangements with teachers for make up work prior to the appointment. When circumstances prevent your keeping a scheduled appointment, please advise the office twenty-four hours in advance so that another patient may have the opportunity to come in during your time. Regular dental check-ups by your general dentist are very important during the period of orthodontic treatment. If you are looking for a general dentist, Dr. Bussa would be happy to recommend one for you. We strive to provide patients with their preferred scheduling dates and times. Your compliance with the scheduling policies enables us to have sufficient time to render services effectively for all of our patients.

Finally, we hope that you will feel at home in our office. Please feel free to ask questions at any time, as we encourage your interest and participation. Our goal is to provide you with a positive experience in orthodontic care and the successful result of a beautiful smile.
